VVT – metering of flow and water temperature

We measure the volume and temperature of water 2 times per second. Picture presents in red the volume of water with temperature above the threshold temperature (i.e. 50⁰C) and in blue below. If with a time period (i.e. 3 days) the water does reach the threshold temperature the meter sends a message.

Legionnaires’ disease is bacterium found naturally in fresh water. It can contaminate hot water tanks, etc. It is usually spread by breathing in mist that contains the bacteria. The bacteria thrive at water temperatures between 25 and 45 °C. Temperatures above 60 °C kill it. There are an estimated 8,000 to 18,000 cases a year in the United States. 10% of cases have a deadly outcome.

Temperature of warm water

Temperature of warm water differs between apartments in the same building estate between 60°C and 45°C (40°C at large volume) due to different temperature settings, poor circulation, faulty dimesions or long pipes.

This is how CompWell calculates the cost

Fair

Temperature of warm water varies between 60°C and 45°C or lower. Our meters register separately volume of water above and below the threshold temperature (i.e. 50⁰C). The user pays only for water >50⁰C.
